About Shai-Osudoku District Assembly

The Shai-Osudoku District is situated in the South-Eastern part of Ghana in the Greater Accra Region. In all, the district occupies a total land area of about 968.361 square km. The district has Dodowa as its capital. Based on LI 2137, Dangme West District was split into two in June 2012 to have Ningo Prampram District and Shai-Osudoku District. It shares boundaries with the North Tongu District to the North-East, Yilo and Lower Manya Districts to the North-West, Akwapim North District to the West, Kpone Kantamanso District to the SouthWest, Ningo Prampram District to the South and the Ada West District to the East. The Volta River washes the North-Eastern portions of the district.

The population of Shai-Osudoku District according to the 2010 Population and Housing Census is 51,913 and of this 48.7 percent are males and 51.3 percent are females. The District’s population constitutes 1.3 percent of the Region’s population. Also about 76.7 percent of the Districts population resides in rural communities where access to toilet facilities and proper waste management is is a challenge.
